本文主要探讨狄更斯的小说《双城记》中爱的牺牲。查尔斯•狄更斯是英国杰出的小说家之一。作为19世纪杰出的批判现实主义小说家，他的主要思想是为爱而牺牲，他的大部分作品也反映了这个主题。在众多小说中，《双城记》尤为典型。《双城记》以法国大革命为载体借古喻今地反映了尖锐的阶级对立和激烈的阶级斗争,通过各种人物的遭遇及其人性剖析,展示了人道主义视野下革命的合理性与复仇的疯狂性,并提倡用仁爱和宽恕的精神来化解仇恨、改变那些被扭曲的心灵。本文在阐述前人对《双城记》的研究和评论的基础上，分析小说中的人物为爱做出了何等的牺牲，以达到对小说文本的深刻理解。通过人物的对比分析，让读者真正理解爱为而牺牲的意义。

On Sacrifice of Love in A Tale of Two Cities
 

ABSTRACT
This paper tries to make people have a deeper understanding of sacrifice in Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities. Charles Dickens is the one of the greatest novelists in the world. He is the outstanding realistic novelist in the nineteenth century. The main theme of Dickens’ novels is the sacrifice for love and most of his novels reflect this theme. During all these novels, A Tale of Two Cities is a typical one. With the French and the English society of the last years of the 18th century as the background, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens shows effectively the novelist’s aim to point out the injustice of oppression and the justification of the revolution. This paper states some famous writers’ study and comments on A Tale of Two Cities, so we can get a more profound understanding. The author will analyzes how the characters in A Tale of Two Cities sacrifice for love so that readers can understand sacrifice for love well.
