从文化差异看中国古典散文翻译中的形合与意合
HYPOTAXIS AND PARATAXIS IN CHINESE PROSAIC TRANSLATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF CULTURAL DIFFERENCES
Abstract: Language is closely related with culture. The inheritance and expression of culture is based on language. At the same time, language is influenced by culture. So translation is both language translation and culture translation. It is a kind of cross-language and cross-culture activities which convert the message of one language into another language. So the cultural differences have an important effect on Chinese-English translation. Over the last few decades, more and more scholars have begun to examine the essence of translation from the culture according to the development of cultural exchange and cultural study. There are plenty of cultural connotations and messages in the Chinese classical prose. As Chinese is featured by parataxis and English is featured by hypotaxis, we should pay much attention to this difference and the language habits when we consider the translation strategy. This paper explores the cultural messages in them. And take paraphrase as the translation strategy to deal with these cultural elements which have strong Chinese characteristics.

摘要: 语言和文化有着密不可分的关系，文化需要通过语言加以传承和表达，语言更受到文化的影响。因此翻译既是语言的翻译又是文化的翻译，是将一种语言文化承载的意义转换到另一种语言文化中的跨语言、跨文化的交际活动，文化差异对英汉互译具有重要影响。在过去几十年里，随着文化交流的增加以及文化研究的兴起和发展，越来越多的学者开始从文化的角度来审视翻译的本质。在中国古典散文中，蕴含着无比丰富的文化内涵和信息。中文是以意合为主的语言，而英语则是以形合为主的语言。因此我们在考虑翻译策略时要关注这一差异，并且按照语言习惯进行翻译。本文将以中国古典散文为例，探讨蕴含在其中的文化内涵和信息，并采取意译的的翻译策略来处理这些具有浓厚中国特色的文化要素。
