DIFFERENCES IN VOCABULARY BETWEEN BRITISH ENGLISH AND AMERICAN ENGLISH

Abstract: Nowadays, English is the most widely used language and the international standard in the whole world, and the study of English as a second language has been valued in many countries. Our country, China, is one of the examples. This thesis is the analysis of the differences in vocabulary between British English and American English by the introduction of the origin and development of the English language from the backgrounds of British English and American English, and the history line of English development.

摘要：当今，英语是全球运用最广泛的语言，而且英语已经成为全球性通用的国际标准。将英语作为第二外语的学习研究已受到很多国家的重视。在我们国家，中国，对于英语的教育投入同样也受到重视。本论文是对英式英语与美式英语在词汇方面差异的分析与研究，同时也将从美式英语与英式英语的社会背景分析介绍英语语言的起源与发展变化，以及从历史背景线索介绍英语语言的发展。
