小议法律英语的长句特征及翻译
摘  要

法律英语是基于英语共核，在立法和司法等活动中形成和使用的具有法律专业特点的语言。本文首先阐述了法律英语的文体特征：精确、正式。接着分析了法律英语中长句的特点，即状语的使用、从句的使用、其他修饰语的使用、连接词“and” 和“ or”的使用以及排比结构的使用。法律英语中长句的复杂性必然增大了长句翻译的难度，翻译时易产生误译或生硬不自然的译文，因此文章介绍了法律英语的翻译标准，并通过具体的实例综合概括出法律英语长句翻译的方法和手段。

On the Features of Long Sentences in Legal English and Its Translation
 
ABSTRACT

Legal English, based on English core, is the language formed and used in the legislative and judicial activities with features of legal profession. This paper firstly expounds the stylistic features of legal English: preciseness and formalness. And then it analyzes the features of long sentences in legal English: the use of adverbial clauses, the use of clauses, the use of other qualifications, and the use of the conjunctions “and” and “or” as well as the use of parallel structure. The complexity of long sentence in legal English increases the difficulty of long sentence translation, so that it is easy to misinterpret or to interpret into blunt text in English and Chinese language conversion. Therefore, this paper introduces the criteria of translation and summarizes the ways and means of the long sentences’ translation through specific examples.
