《罗密欧与朱丽叶》是莎士比亚在伊丽莎白时期所写的唯一悲剧，其男女主人公的光辉形象永存世界人民心中。罗密欧与朱丽叶为了追求自由爱情，敢于不顾家族的世仇，甚至以死殉情。在这一期间，他们的形象经历了一系列转变。本文将以男女主人公的爱情故事为线索，结合他们的语言和行为，通过对他们的形象转变的分析，以期更好地解读这一经典名著。首先，本文综述作者的研究思路和方案。然后，简要介绍莎士比亚的生平及其相关著作和时代背景，为该剧中男女主人公的形象转变做出合理的铺垫和解释。之后，从人物的语言和行为出发，结合大量事例来论述男女主人公在恋爱前后形象的一系列转变，以及导致转变的原因。最后，通过分析莎士比亚创作该剧的目的，从而得出男女主人公的形象转变的意义。总之，男女主人公的形象转变代表了新的人文主义思想，体现他们对人文主义思想的不懈追求。

On the Image Transformation of Romeo and Juliet
                                                                       
ABSTRACT

Romeo and Juliet is the only tragedy by Shakespeare during Elizabethan period, the protagonists’ glorious images of which exist in the heart of the whole world. Romeo and Juliet seek for free love, dare to ignore the family’s feud, and die for love finally. In the play, the protagonists’ images experience a series of transformation. This paper aims to study the protagonists’ image transformation by discussing their speech and behavior with the clue of the love story. It hopes to present readers with a clearer understanding and better appreciation of the play. First of all, the paper sums up the train of thought and scheme of the studies. Next, it gives brief information about the author, his related works and the social background, which explains the protagonists’ image transformation. Then, the protagonists’ image transforming process before and after the love affair by several examples is discussed, followed by examining the causes of the transformation. Finally, the author presents the significance of the protagonists’ image transformation through analyzing the purpose of the play created by Shakespeare. In a word, the image transformation of the protagonists stands for a kind of new humanistic idea and shows their persistent pursuit of the humanistic spirit.
