DISCURSIVE CONSTRUCTIONS OF ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN KOFI ANNAN AND BAN KI-MOON’S STATEMENTS: A CORPUS BASED CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS

Abstract: The issue of global climate change has seen its severity in recent years. In view of its importance, researchers at home and abroad have done many researches on this issue, but the angles are not diversified. Although this issue has been discussed in many different disciplines, there are few researches from linguistics perspectives, let alone corpus-based discourse studies. This thesis investigates into Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon’s nine years’ statements, from which some clues may be found to fully prove my point that the cognition about environmental issues is deepened, not only in the United Nations, but in the whole world. What is more, based on the 9 years’ statements by Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon, this study merges corpus linguistics and critical discourse analysis (CDA) to explore how discourses of global environmental issues were constructed in their speech. The last part draws on the theory of CDA and investigates how discourses function in the social changes.

科菲•安南与潘基文关于环境问题的话语建构研究：基于语料库的批判话语分析

摘要：近几年来全球气候变暖问题呈现越来越严重的趋势。鉴于此问题的重要性，国内外学者做了很多关于此问题的研究。虽然这个问题已经在多个学科被探讨过， 从语言学角度所做的研究却寥寥无几，更不用提基于语料库的研究了。这篇论文对科菲•安南以及潘基文九年的言论进行研究，并从中发现证明论点的种种线索，最后得出联合国对于环境问题认识在逐渐加深这样的事实。另外，本研究结合了语料库和批判话语分析两种语言学方法去探究安南和潘基文在任期间关于环境问题的话语建构。最后，结合批判话语分析理论分析了话语在社会变革中的作用。
