摘要：莎士比亚戏剧《威尼斯商人》的重要文学成就之一，就是成功地塑造了夏洛克这一极其复杂的典型形象。本文通过对犹太人在早期英国以及伊丽莎白时期的历史回顾再现了犹太人与基督教的深刻矛盾，揭示了夏洛克这位剧中的反面角色作为一个高利贷者的可恶可恨（吝啬贪婪，固执，冷酷复仇）和作为一个受欺辱的犹太人的可怜可悲（社会宗教的压迫、犹太民族的屈辱等）。

SHAKESPEARE'S THE MERCHANT OF VENICE------- ANALYSING SHYLOCK FROM A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE

Abstract:Portraying Shylock, the very complicated typical image, is one of  the important literary achievements of Shakespeare's drama，The Merchant of Venice. This article reproduces the profound contradictions between the jews and  Christianity by reviewing the history of the jews in the early period of British and Elizabeth era, and reveals such features as damn greed, sinister and hateful (mean, greedy, blackness, stubborn,  cold revenge) of Shylock as the reverse role in the drama, a usurer, but poor and sad  as the jews who suffered insult (oppression of social religious,  jewish national humiliation, etc.)in history.
