法律英语的词汇特征与翻译
摘  要

本论文对法律英语的词汇特点及其在法律英语语篇中的翻译展开研究。论文首先是对法律英语的一般介绍，包括：法律英语的定义、作用及文体特征。第二部分是对法律英语的词汇特点的详尽阐述，作者从九个方面对法律英语的词汇特点进行分析，最后作者试图得出这样的结论：法律英语词汇特色是为了达到法律英语文体表述目标—正式和准确—而服务的。第三部分，作者介绍了目前翻译界几种最具影响的翻译理论后，提出法律英语翻译应遵从忠实、准确、通顺和一致的标准。最后，作者结合前文对法律英语词汇特点的阐述，对《中华人民共和国合同法（双语版）》(法律出版社，1999)的部分英文条款中的词汇翻译进行了分析和评价，以论证该上述翻译标准在法律翻译实践中的可行性和有效性。

Lexical Features and Translation of Legal English
 
ABSTRACT

The present thesis is devoted to a study of the lexical features and translation of legal English. In the beginning of the thesis is an introduction to legal English, dealing with the definition, functions and stylistic features of legal English. Chapter Two expounds the lexical features of legal English in nine subsections. These detailed analyses might enable us to draw a conclusion without much difficulty that the lexical features of legal English result largely from the object of legal style: to achieve formality and precision. In Chapter Three is a discussion is made on the legal lexicon translation. Some prevalent translation theories as well as criteria for translation are presented before the author makes an attempt to recommend specific criteria for legal translation, legal English translation should be made to comply with faithfulness, accuracy, smoothness, consistency. In the end, in the light of these criteria, the author makes a lexical analysis of the English version of the Contract Law of the People’s Republic of China for the purpose of demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of the above-mentioned translation criteria.
