摘要：循环经济是一种新兴的经济发展模式，发展循环经济和推行循环型社会是我国实施可持续发展战略的重要途径和必要保障。循环型农业则是在循环经济理念和可持续发展思想指导下出现的一种新型农业。本文从循环型农业的内涵及特征入手,综合了湖南西部地区农业资源、生态环境、经济状况、农业科技含量等方面的情况和以及科技进步和人们观念的改变等因素，分析了农业循环经济的必要性和可行性，并针对性地提出了生态整合模式，生态农业园模式、区域型循环经济模式、家庭型循环经济模式等适合湖南西部地区农业循环经济的发展模式，促进湖南西部地区农业的可持续发展。
