翻译界对国内翻译教学的要求和期望
Abstract
Nowadays, China is making more exchanges with foreign countries economically, culturally and technologically. China’s entry into WTO, Beijing’s successful bid for the 2008 Olympic Games and Shanghai’s exceptional host for the 2010 World’s EXPO have brought the translation industry a golden developing stage. Translation is required as a compulsory course for English majors in a number of universities in China. In the age of globalization and informationalization, China is in urgent need of professional translators. It is undeniable that it is translation education that shoulders the task to train high-qualified translation talents for the society.
This paper mainly analyzes the present situation of China’s translation industry, especially its development after 1978. Then it demonstrates the present situation of the translation education, about the teaching concepts, teaching methods. In the following, it states the significance of translation industry and the relationship between the industry and translation education. Finally, it points out demands and expectations of the society on translation industry and demands and expectations of China’s translation industry on translation education.
