《红死魔的面具》中的死亡意象

摘要: 埃德加•爱伦•坡是世界文坛的奇才。爱伦•坡一生经历坎坷，热衷于书写死亡。《红死魔的面具》是其代表作之一，其中有诸多的死亡意象，坡赋予了它们深刻的象征意义。为了对爱伦•坡和其作品有更深的了解，本文进一步分析了其中的一些意象，揭示了它们的象征意义，从而得出坡的人生观。坡通过塑造城堡中的7个房间，红死魔，乌檀木钟，三脚架和亲王及其随从等意象表达了他对死亡的看法。坡的生活经历对他人生观的形成有很大影响，《红死魔的面具》中的意象很大程度上体现了坡的人生观，体现了他对死亡的看法。死亡在爱伦•坡看来是美丽的，他渴望死亡。对于爱伦•坡来说，死亡意味着超越自我，超越生活。

The Image of Death in“The Masque of the Red Death”

Abstract: Edgar Allen Poe is a genius in literature world. Allen Poe’s life experience is full of frustrations, and he fonds of writing death. “The Masque of the Red Death” is one of poe’s represent work which Poe uses lots of images of death. Poe endows those images with deep symbolism meanings.To know more about Allen Poe and his work, this paper analyses some of those images to reveal their meaning and obtain Poe’s life value.Poe expresses his view of death by portraying images of 7 rooms in the castle, red death, clock of ebony, tripod, Prince Prospero and his follows. Poe’s life experience has great influence on his life values, and the images in “The Masque of the Red Death” tell us Poe’s life values and his opinion of death.Death is beautiful, and he is eager for death. ForPoe, to die is to transcend himself and transcend life.
