女性地位提高在语言中的体现

摘 要

英语中性别歧视现象由来已久，这主要是由于文化传统和社会分工不同，给人们思想意识造成根深蒂固的“男主女从”、“男尊女卑”的偏见性在语言中的反应。与男性相比，女性更多地使用标准语、恭维语、闪避语和委婉语等，这是长期的不平等观念引起的女性普遍自卑心理的体系。随着社会发展和女性地位的提高，性别歧视现象正逐步减少，女性逐渐放弃代表她们卑微、柔弱的语言，而兴起“无性别歧视语言”之风，这主要表现在称谓的改变，中性词的使用，极少使用带有性别歧视色彩的表达等方面。本文简要介绍古代女性地位及其语言特征，并从经济、教育和政治等方面阐述现代女性地位，探究由于女性地位的提高而引起的语言变化及其女性语言的发展。

 Study on the Improvement of Female Position in Language
 

Abstract

   The gender discrimination in language has a long history. This is mainly because of different cultural tradition and social division of labor. The opinion of "men from the Lord", "wifely subjugation" causes a deep rooted bias at people’s ideology. Compared to men, using more educated, complimented, dodged language and euphemism, etc. by women is the system of women’s common inferior mentality caused by the long-term and unequal ideas. With the development of the society and the improvement of the status of women, gender discrimination is gradually reducing. Women abandon these words which represent their humble and weak personality step by step, and there arises a gust of "no gender discrimination language" fashion. The main performance of the term is embodied in appellation changes, the frequent use of neuter gender words, the rare use of sexist colour expression, etc.. This paper introduces antecedent female position and language features briefly, and discusses present female position from economic, educational and political aspects. It also explores some language changes which are arised by the raising of female position and the development of female language.
