论隐喻的衔接作用

Abstract
Metaphor, in essence, is to understand one kind of thing in terms of another. It involves two conceptual domains: source domain and target domain. Metaphor is a systematic and coherent mapping of structure from the source domain to the target domain. The mapping between conceptual domains endows metaphor with cohesive function in discourse. Metaphor can extend at the discourse level as a result of metaphorical entailments, forming a systematic lexical cohesive network. Metaphor is an important part of conceptual system and plays a significant role in linguistic expressions. This paper is to study the cohesive function of metaphor through specific examples. Then a conclusion is drawn that the adoption of metaphor in discourse and sentence can make them more compact structurally and make the meaning connect more tightly. In other words, metaphor can enhance the cohesiveness of discourse. As an important textual strategy, metaphor can make the text more cohesive at the sentential and discourse level.

摘  要
隐喻本质上是通过一种事物来理解另一种事物。它涉及两个概念域，其中一个概念域说明另一概念域，说明的概念域称作源域(source domain)，被说明的概念域称作目标域(target domain)。隐喻是从源域向目标域系统的、部分的结构映射。因此，隐喻概念具有系统性和连贯性的特征，其本质特征赋予了隐喻的语篇衔接功能。研究发现概念隐喻可以通过隐喻性蕴涵和其框定功能在语篇层面上延伸，从而形成系统的词汇衔接网络，增强了语篇的连贯性。本文认为隐喻是人类概念系统的重要组成部分，在语言表达中发挥着重要作用，并通过具体的实例来分析隐喻的衔接功能，从而得出结论：隐喻的使用可以使句子和文章在结构上更加紧凑，在意义上更加连贯，隐喻可以有效构建句子与语篇衔接。
