Abstract
This paper is: The symbolism in T.S.Eliot’s The Waste Land. It focuses on the using of the theories of symbolism in The Waste Land. At the beginning of the paper, it introduces some information of the poet, like his family, his education, his success，and his famous works. Then in the second part, it talks about the background of the poem and the main contents. Among the five parts, there are “the Burial of the Dead," " A Game of Chess ", " The Fire Sermon, "" Death by Water "," What the Thunder Said". The third part begins with the symbolism, including the symbolism of the content, origin, classification and so on. At last, it centers on the symbolism of the article. The symbolisms are classified to introduce the using and the meaning they represent.
