《红色英勇勋章》里新英雄形象分析

Abstract
Many people have held different views about whether the hero Henry Fleming in The Red Badge of Courage can be regarded as a hero or not. They thought that Henry Fleming does not have self-awareness, because his mind and action is affected by the environment in the naturalism writing method. Therefore, they thought that Henry Fleming could not be regarded as a hero. There is a saying that the naturalism literature make the hero image disappeared gradually in the works. In this paper, we attempt to disprove this opinion. The author will present the concept and character of the naturalism, and discuss on the dispute about the hero Henry Fleming, and according to the analysis of the mentality and behavior of the hero Henry Fleming, and then makes comparisons of the hero image with that in the Greek mythology and Chinese mythology. And finally we redefined the heroism and present that ordinary people who can understand and overcome their own disadvantages and have courage to conquer themselves are also a kind of hero, the new ones. Thereout, we want to encourage people understand themselves and conquer themselves and make themselves perfect and then make a conclusion that everyone have an opportunity to be their own hero.

中文摘要
文学界中存在着这样一种说法，自然主义文学的出现使得英雄形象逐渐在文学作品中消解，本文将就这一点谈点粗浅的看法。本文将先解释自然主义的概念与特征，随后引出对主人公形象的争议，接着通过对书中主人公的心理，行为，语言等各个方面进行分析，得出其为一种新英雄典型，并与希腊神话和中国神话中传统意义上的英雄形象进行对比分析，旨在阐述作者创造了一种新的英雄形象，一种更为真实的英雄形象，从而得出自然主义并非是使得英雄主义在文学作品中消失，而是使英雄典型的塑造方法多元化的结论，由此对英雄主义进行重新阐述，英雄不再仅仅是在战场上建功立业，而是能够直面自己的怯懦并有勇气战胜自己的人，鼓励人们认识自己，战胜自己，做自己的英雄。
