试析美国主流媒体对占领华尔街运动的报道

AN ANALYSIS OF US MAINSTREAMMEDIA REPORTS ON OCCUPY WALL STREET

Abstract: The issue of Occupy Wall Street movement happened in American financial district in September 17, 2011 and rapidly spreads all over the world. As the demonstration is gathering momentum, mainstream journalism in America focus more and more attention on it. This study analyzed the mainstream media coverage of OCCUPY WALL STREET by US journalism, the Times and the Washington Post, during the period from September 17 and November in 2011. The purpose is to discover the inclination of US media in reporting the critical events related with its governmental interests and find out the relationship between them. The author has applied content analysis historical analysis, merging critical discourse analysis (CDA), mainly explored and answers three questions below: 1) why Occupy Wall Street movement happened in America. 2) Why the Times and the Washington Post change their attitude towards the Occupy Wall Street movement. 3) Is the US mainstream media is driven by the power of politics?

试析美国主流媒体对占领华尔街运动的报道

摘要:2011年9月17号,美国金融中心发生了占领华尔街运动,并迅速在全世界蔓延开来。随着该事件愈演愈烈,美国主流媒体也越来越关注这一事件。本文选取《时代》杂志与《华盛顿邮报》2011年9月17号到11月的报道为研究对象,探索美国主流媒体在报道与政府利益密切相关的具有争议性的事件的倾向与立场,并进一步挖掘主流媒体与美国政治的关系。本文综合运用了内容分析法,历史分析法,结合批判话语分析研究方法,主要分析和探讨了以下三个问题:1、占领华尔街运动发生在美国的原因。2、对于《时代》杂志与《华盛顿邮报》改变报道态度的原因。3、美国政治对美国主流媒体的影响。
