从动物词汇看中西方文化的差异

语言词汇是最明显的文化信息载体，各种文化特征都在该语言的词汇里留下其印迹。语言不仅包含着该民族的历史背景和文化背景，而且也蕴藏着该民族对人生的看法，生活方式和思维方式。所有语言中都有动物词汇, 动物词汇是民族文化特色的代表之一,每个民族的文化和社会背景必然会体现于这些词汇中.动物词汇是语言的一个组成部分，也是一个民族文化的组成部分。英语和汉语中有丰富的动物词汇，而这些词汇如同一面镜子反映了英汉两个民族在历史文化、地域文化、宗教文化、价值观、思维方式和体育娱乐等方面的差异。动物词汇在日常生活中频繁使用，通过对动物词汇文化意义的揭示和研究,人们可以更清楚地感受到英汉文化在动物词语上留下的历史文化差异,从而帮助人们顺利、恰当地进行跨文化交流。

Cultural Differences between China and the West in Light of Vocabulary of Animals
Abstract: Language is the most significant carrier of cultural information. Language diversity is perhaps one of the most difficult and persistent problems that we find in intercultural communication. In the simplest sense, a language is a set of symbols, with rules for combining the symbols that a large community uses and understands. Different culture features all have their footprints in the vocabulary. It is through language that we reach out and make contact with our surrounding reality. And it is through language that we share with others our cultural differences. Language not only contains the nation's historical background and cultural background, but also embodies the nation’s view of life, lifestyle and way of thinking. All languages have animal vocabulary, and animal vocabulary is a representative of national cultures. Every nation's culture and social backgrounds will inevitably be reflected in these terms. Animal vocabulary is one part of language, is also an integral part of national culture. English and Chinese are rich in animal words, and these words reflect the differences between Western countries and China in historical culture, regional culture, religious culture, values, and ways of thinking as well as entertainment activities as a mirror. Animal Words frequently used in daily life. Through the reveal and study of cultural significance of animal words, people can more clearly feel the historical and cultural differences in the animal words for English and Chinese culture. With the understanding and expression of animal vocabulary, we can improve our language capacity, and better realize cross-cultural communications. And we should not only better master and use the animal idioms accurately, but also better understand the eastern and western cultures so as to promote the cross-cultural communication.
