试析《夕阳》中南希的恐惧心理

诺贝尔文学奖获得者福克纳（1897-1962）是20世纪美国最具创造性、最富影响力的现代作家之一，是一位公认的美国南方现实主义小说巨匠。短篇小说《夕阳》被誉为福克纳最具魅力的短篇小说之一，是一篇在布局、某篇上堪称现代主义小说的典范之作。自从《夕阳》问世以来，学界对它的研究主要集中在艺术手法、叙事策略和思想主题等方面。有人认为福克纳有“厌女性主义思想”，也有人说福克纳对黑人持保留态度，从未塑造过真正意义上的黑人形象：如《夕阳》中的南希只是个自己制造恐惧的自虐者，而她丈夫耶稣也是个杀人成性的恶魔。但是如果我们仔细阅读会发现其实不然。本论文在前人研究的基础上，就《夕阳》中南希的恐惧心理做进一步的研究与探讨，从儿童有限的视角和多重隐喻的角度来解读《夕阳》，看作者如何描述南希的内心冲突，来达到最大限度深化作品主题意义和作者通过“恐惧”想表达的深层意味这一目的。

An Analysis of Nancy’s Fear in “That Evening Sun”

Abstract: Nobel Prize winner Faulkner (1897-1962) was one of the most creative and most influential modern writers in the 20th century and he was very good at writing South America. Faulkner’s short novel “That Evening Sun” was called one of the most attractive short stories, which was one of the successful models in layout in modern society. Since the advent of “That Evening Sun”, in its recent research mainly focus on means of artistic expression, narrative strategy and ideological theme, etc. Some critics hold that Faulkner is a typical misogynist and some others think he has anaerobic ideology for black people; He keeps reservations to the blacks and never built a real sense of black image: such as Nancy in “That Evening Sun” was a self-mortification only created fear by herself, her husband Jesus was a murder and the devil. But if we read we will actually have different understanding of this novel. On the basis of previous studies on “That Evening Sun”, this paper will make further research and discussion on Nancy’s fears from the perspective of children and multiple metaphors, to explore how the author described Nancy’s inner conflict to achieve his writing goal: maximum deepening the themes and revealing its special implication behind “fear”.
