从功能对等原则看新闻标题英译

在国际新闻报道中，英语新闻占了相当大的比重。而在英语新闻中，标题作为报道全文内容的缩影显得十分重要。中文新闻的英译是我国对外开放的必然要求。尽管许多传统翻译理论都可以在新闻的英译中得到运用，但因为新闻标题具有许多独有的特点，所以在翻译的结果并不尽如人意。因此许多学者从多方面运用各种理论对新闻标题的翻译提出了自己的看法和相应的翻译策略。
本文选择以奈达的功能对等原则为指导, 分析新闻英译过程中所用到的主要技巧和方法，根据新闻标题的特点探讨翻译过程中应该注意的要点探索合适的翻译方法，追求新闻标题英译传神与达意的统一。
本论文共分为六部分：第一部分介绍一些与研究相关的基本的定义和研究背景。第二部分对新闻标题进行了简单的介绍。第三部分提供了分析的理论框架。第四部分结合实例分析功能对等原则对于新闻英译策略的指导作用。第五部分对译者提出了各种建议。最后一部分总结了全文并指出本论文的局限性。

On the English Translation of News Headlines from the Perspective of Functional Equivalence

Abstract: In the international news report, English news account for a considerably big proportion. And the news headline is regarded as one of the most important parts in a piece of news because it is the concentration of the news content. The English translation of Chinese news is the requirement of our country's open-up policy. Though there are many traditional translation theories that can be adopted in the English translation of news headline, it is still difficult to do a satisfactory translation work because it has a variety of characteristics. Thus many scholars have put forward their own views and the corresponding translation strategies on headlines translation from various aspects with all kinds of theories.
From the perspective of Nida's functional equivalence, this thesis aims at exploring appropriate translation methods according to the characteristics of news headlines in order to realize a combination of spirit transmission and meaning conveyance in the English translation of Chinese news headlines by analyzing the skills and methods used in the process of English translation of news headlines.
The thesis is divided into 6 parts: The first part provides a panoramic view of the thesis, introducing some basic definitions and the background of the study. The second part makes a brief outlook of news headlines. The third part presents the theoretical framework for analysis. The forth part gives some strategies on the English translation of news headlines through the analysis of illustrations.The last part draws a conclusion of the study, proposes findings and limitations of this thesis.
