浅析诺桑觉寺中的哥特特征

《诺桑觉寺》是简•奥斯汀的一部成熟之作，它主要讲述了一个发生在古老神秘的城堡里的爱情故事。与作者的其他小说不同的是，它的哥特式特征尤为突显。本文试图从怪异的人物﹑诡秘的环境及独特的情节三个方面入手，对小说中的哥特式风格做出全面的分析。在此基础上，进一步诠释它在表达作品主题即对社会的讽刺和批判；对女性主义的提倡等方面所起的重要作用。对哥特式特征的解读，有助于提高读者对该类型小说的理解力和鉴赏力。

Northanger Abbey, as the first mature work of Jane Austen, tells a love story that happens in an ancient and mysterious castle. What distinguishes this novel from others is its obvious Gothic feature. This paper intends to analyze the Gothic feature comprehensively. It mainly focuses on three aspects: the bizarre characters, the grotesque environment and the outlandish plot. Based on this, it then gives a further interpretation of how important it is in expressing the main ideas of Northanger Abbey: irony and repudiation to society and advocacy of feminism. Through a deep analysis of Gothic feature, readers can improve their understanding and appreciation of the Gothic novels.
