跨文化意识的培养对中学生英语学习的影响


学好一门外语并不仅仅是掌握它的发音、语法、单词和习语,还要学习这门语言所反映的习俗、思想和社会行为,学会理解目标语国家的语言,学会用当地人的观念来看待这个世界。事实上,语言的学习跟文化的学习是分不开的。因为语言和文化有着密切的关系。当今,对于中国的英语教师来说,教育不仅仅是教授语言的过程,还是开阔学生视野、增长学生生活阅历、提高学生语言应用能力的过程。显然,青少年尤其是中学生接受跨文化意识培养对英语教师提出了新的挑战。
为了提高中学生的英语学习和跨文化交际能力,他们不仅要提高语言能力,还要提高交际能力。教师应该从不同的方面训练学生的跨文化交际能力,逐步培养他们的跨文化交际意识通过培养学生的跨文化意识,使其有效、实用、正确的运用英语,从而熟练的进行跨文化交际。
本论文讨论了语言和文化的关系,跨文化意识的培养对中学生英语学习的影响和如何在新课标要求下进行跨文化意识的培养。本论文的目的是提高中学生的跨文化意识和跨文化交际能力。

Abstract

Learning a foreign language well not only means mastering the pronunciation grammar words and idioms but also means learning the ways in which their language reflects the customs ideas and behavior of their society learning to understand their " language of the mind " learning to see the world as native speakers of that language see it. In fact learning a language is inseparable from learning its own culture because the relationship of language and culture is so close. It has been widely accepted by the English teachers in China that English teaching is not merely a process of teaching the language but a process of broadening students' vision enriching the life experiences and promoting the pragmatic competence of students. It's obvious that acquiring cross-cultural awareness for teenager especially middle school students raises a new challenge to English teachers.
In order to improve their abilities in English study and cross-cultural communication the middle school students should develop not only their language competence but also develop communicative competence. The students’ awareness of cross-cultural communication is supposed to be trained from different aspects by teachers and then it enables students to develop cross-cultural communication awareness gradually. By building up the cross-cultural awareness students can be trained to acquire the correct way of using English effectively and practically. Further more they can communicate with foreigners fluently.
This paper discusses the relationship of language and culture the impact of cross-cultural awareness and the ways to nurture this capability under the new curriculum for English language teaching. The aim of this paper is to improve middle school students’ cross-cultural awareness and intercommunication competence.
