《看不见的人》是美国黑人文学史上具有里程碑意义的小说,被誉为是“划时代的小说,可以说是现代美国黑人生活的史诗”;《最蓝的眼睛》也是现代关于研究美国黑人文学的一个热门话题,托尼•莫里森是美国历史上第一位获得诺贝尔文学奖的黑人女作家,她的作品集中描写黑人妇女在白人文化的冲击下所受到的伤害。这两部作品揭示相同主题,对美国黑人有着重要意义。论文以探究美国黑人寻找自我的心路历程为线索,研究美国黑人这一群体文化的演变历程。本论文希望从研究《看不见的人》和《最蓝的眼睛》两篇著作,探讨美国黑人这个特殊的群体,在经受来自白人的赤裸裸的物质剥削,以及心灵上白人的种族歧视,还有源自自身的否定后,能否走出心灵的枷锁,接受自己的文化,并与固有的白人文化做抗争,最终勇敢的担当起自己的社会责任,民族责任,从而寻找到真正的自我。本论文以此为突破点,展现美国黑人寻找自我的心路历程。

Abstract

Invisible Man was written by Ralph Ellison, a major writer of African-American literature, which is honored the epic of the modern African-American. Besides, the novel The Bluest Eye is also a hot topic of African-American. Its author Toni Morrison became the first African-American woman to receive the Nobel Prize in literature. Her works mostly describe the miserable African-American women, who were badly hurted by the prevailing white culture. In conclusion, the two great works imply the same theme and play a major role in influencing the African-American. The thesis studies the psychological experience of African-American in search of self-identity. The thesis is aim to study the African-American, who was exploited materially and discriminated psychologically by the white as shown in Invisible Man and The Bluest Eye. Unfortunately, the African-American also negated them once upon a time. It depends on the African-American whether they can extricate themselves from the shackles of soul, accept their own culture, fight against the well-established white culture, and undertake their social and national responsibilities, through which they can find themselves really. The thesis emphasizes the bitter experiences of the African-American and shows the psychological experience of African-American in searching for self-identity.
