从文化角度对比分析汉英姓名差异

姓名是一个人在社会中身份的象征，在社会关系中扮演着至关重要的角色。命名是一种文化行为，它传递着不同文化背景下的不同文化内涵。中国人的姓名和命名文化深受家庭观念影响，而英语国家的姓名和命名文化重视的是个人主义。研究不同历史的姓名、命名顺序和命名原则，有利于更好的了解中英不同的文化内涵。本文较为详细的研究了中英不同的姓名文化。首先，分析了姓名的意义和重要性。通过对一个国家的历史、宗教、道德观和价值观的比较研究，可以看到中英姓名文化的不同内涵所在。接着文章聚焦两种文化的比较，中文姓名体现了以家庭为中心，强调和谐的特点。相比之下，英语国家的姓名则体现了西方文化重视个体，深受基督教影响的特点。最后，本文得出结论，对于中英姓名文化的比较研究，有助于各民族相互了解彼此的文化特征，从而为世界文化的探究做出一定贡献。

A Cultural Contrastive Study of Chinese and English Names
Abstract: Name is a badge of a person's identity in a society which plays a significant role in public relations. And naming is a social act, which conveys different cultural connotations in different cultural contexts. Chinese names and naming are group-based and strongly family-influenced, while English names and naming respect individualism and reflect the influence of Christianity. Studying the different history of name, naming order, naming principles and cultural connotation is conducive to a better understanding of the cultural connotations in Chinese and English. This paper makes a close study of Chinese and English names. First of all, it analyses the meaning and significance of name. Through comparative study on a nation’s history, religion, concepts of moral and value, we can see different cultural connotations between English and Chinese names. Then it focuses on the comparison of both cultures, Chinese names embody the harmony-emphasized and family-oriented characteristics, represent the willing of the head of a family; in contrast, English nations’ names embody the western culture which values the individual, influenced by the Christian spirit. Finally, this paper concludes that a comparative study of Chinese and English names does work effectively in understanding the two cultures.
