从目的论的角度论杭州宾馆名称的翻译

改革开放以来，旅游业的发展带动了杭州本土酒店业的崛起。为了顺应酒店业日益国际化的发展趋势，经营者需要为酒店选择一个较好的英文译本，以吸引来自世界各国的游客，进而促进其在海外市场的开拓。因此，宾馆名称的翻译对于一个宾馆的运营有直接的影响，研究宾馆名称翻译有重要的实用价值。
     本文以目的论作为杭州宾馆名称翻译的理论依据，强调了译者和文本功能在翻译中的作用，并把翻译活动列入了文化的范畴加以研究，为酒店名称翻译提供了新的视角，对酒店名称的翻译具有积极的指导作用，为译者进行翻译工作提供更多的灵活性。
    本文以杭州地区为例，收集了62个五星级宾馆名称，109个四星和191个三星宾馆名称以及部分经济型宾馆名称为研究对象，首先对其中文酒店取名方法进行分析归类，得出中文取名的共同方法。在此基础上，对其现有的翻译版本进行比较以及结合前辈的一些研究，大致将杭州宾馆名称的翻译方法分为音译，直译还有再造。此外，提出在翻译过程当中需要考虑到文化等因素，从而使宾馆名称翻译达到最佳效果。从理论和现实价值而言，本研究不论在宾馆名称翻译领域还是在国际酒店行业的实际应用中都体现出其重要性。

A Study on the Translation of Hotel Names in    Hangzhou from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

Abstract: Since reform and opening up, tourism has boosted the rapid development of hotel industry in Hangzhou. To adapt the tide of internalization, hotelier needs to choose a good English version of hotel names so as to attract the target customers and to promote the development of overseas market. Therefore, study translation of hotel names has important practical values and has direct impact in hotel business operation.  
     This paper makes a research on hotel names translation in Hangzhou taking Skopos theory as the theoretical basis as translator and text function has been strengthened in this theory, meanwhile, culture aspects has been considered in translation process. The theory provided a new vision to hotel name translation and entitles the translator much flexibility.
     Based on a collection of 62 five-star,109 four-star,191 three-star hotel names and some economical hotel names and analysis of naming approaches, this paper summarize common methods in translating Hangzhou hotel names, transliteration, literal translation and renaming. Besides, the author proposes that translators should consider the culture element in translation activity to reach the best effect. For realistic and theoretical value, this study would be important in the field of translation of hotel names in Hangzhou, even practical to apply to international hotel industry.
