英语新闻标题的特点与翻译

新闻标题是对一篇新闻内容的高度概括，也是一篇新闻的“文眼”。一个优秀的英语新闻标题必须具备以下特点：概括性强、简要、准确、有吸引力。随着人们生活节奏的加快和娱乐生活的日益丰富，一篇新闻只有标题足够吸引人，才能在瞬间吸引人们的眼球，“夺取”人们的注意力。因此新闻标题的翻译在翻译整篇新闻中的作用至关重要。翻译英语新闻标题是一个综合的过程, 是对原来内容的二度创造。在翻译英语新闻标题时要做到准确理解新闻标题，了解英汉新闻标题的异同点，当然尊重读者的审美情趣、习惯以及接受能力也是不可忽视的。本文就英语新闻标题的翻译进行探讨。
本文由五个部分组成。第一部分是引言，首先对新闻标题的定义做一个简单那的概括，然后并回顾了关于英语新闻标题的相关研究。第二部分主要从以下几个方面：词汇、结构、语法和修辞等分析了英语新闻标题的特点。第三部分则对英汉新闻标题的异同点进行了对比分析。第四部分重点探讨了英语新闻标题的翻译，并提出了一些可行的翻译策略，包括：直译，在翻译中添加注释和修辞以及平衡翻译法，如增译和减译以及运用英语和中国著名的谚语和诗行。最后一部分是结论，总结了全文内容，并重申本文的研究意义。

Abstract
News title is a highly condensed summary of news content but also the “eye” of news. An excellent English news title must have the following characteristics: generality, briefness, accuracy and attraction. With the accelerated life pace and increasing abundance of entertainment life, the news could instantly attract people’s attention and “seize” people’s focus only when its title is attractive enough. Therefore, the translation of the news titles plays a vital role in the translation of the entire news. The translation of English news titles is a comprehensive process and it is the second creation of the original content. In the translation of English news titles, they must achieve an accurate understanding of the news titles and understand the similarities and differences of Chinese and English news titles. Of course, to respect for the readers’ aesthetic taste, habits and acceptance also could not be ignored. This paper will discuss the translation of English news titles.
This paper consists of five parts. Part one is the introduction, making a generalization on news headlines, and reviews the previous studies on this topic. Part two analyses the features of English news headline from the following aspects: the lexical features, the structure features, the grammatical features and the rhetorical features. Part three makes a comparative analysis on the similarities and differences between English and Chinese news headlines. Part four probes into the translation of the English news headlines, and puts forward some feasible translating strategies, including: literal translation, adding notes in the translation, application of the original rhetoric into translation, as well as the balance translation, such as adding and cutting words, and applying famous sayings and poem lines of English and Chinese, and so on. The last part is the conclusion, summarizing the whole paper, and restating the significance of this study.
