中美面子观的差异

 Politeness is a symbol of human civilization and the feature of all civilized societies. As a common phenomenon in human communication, politeness is not only a thing shared by all social members, but also a special communicative principle. In different cultural contexts, it is influenced by different linguistic groups. It is true that China and America both have their own unique culture. Similarly, face perception, as one theory of politeness principle, stands different cultural features and shows different social relations and mode of thinking between America and China. This paper discusses some important opinions on face perception under different cultural backgrounds and the reasons. By comparing different concepts between America and China, it would help readers to get some knowledge about cultural differences of politeness between them. It is also good for us to promote international communication and consolidate the relationship between the two countries.

摘要：礼貌是人类文明的一种标志，是所有文明社会的特征，是人类交际中的普通现象，为各社会群体所共有，又是一种个性化的交际原则，受制于不同的语言群体的不同文化背景。当然，中国和美国都有自己的独特文化。作为礼貌理论之一的面子观同样有着中美不同的文化特征，体现了中美不同的社会关系和思维模式。本文通过对中美两国在面子观上的观点，面子观形成的不同文化背景及其原因的比较分析，让读者进一步了解一些中美礼貌文化的差异，对于促进国际交流，巩固中美关系有很大帮助。
