浅析斯嘉丽的性格中蕴含的文化冲突

    本文通过斯嘉丽的家庭教育、自我个性以及对待爱情的态度三个角度来讨论美国内战时期爱尔兰平民文化、南方贵族文化及资本主义文化之间的冲突。本文分为四章。首先，作者对本文的立意，即斯嘉丽性格中体现的文化冲突进行了阐述。小说主题讲述了斯嘉丽在美国内战前后的成长过程，她的成长深受当时社会文化的影响，她的性格反映了内战前后的社会文化。其次，论文在文献回顾环节，把前人对斯嘉丽的性格分析做了简要的概括和总结。然后, 文章对形成北方资本主义工商业及南方种植园经济背景和形成自由州和蓄奴州的社会背景加以介绍和分析。在文章的重点第四章，从三方面对斯嘉丽的性格中的矛盾进行详细的分析，进而鲜明展现了三种文化在她身上的剧烈冲突。

Abstract
      This paper will discuss conflicts among the Irish civilian culture, the noble culture in the West and the bourgeois culture in the North during American Civil War reflected by Scarlett’s family cultivation, self-personality and her attitude towards love in Michell’s Gone with the Wind. This paper is made up of four chapters. First of all, it gives a general introduction of the significance of the study which expresses the cultural conflicts in Scarlett’s character. The theme of the novel narrates the process of Scarlett’s growth, which is influenced deeply by the social cultures. Her character reflects the social culture during the time of the civil war of America.  The second part carries on the overall literature review about the studies of this novel. Afterwards, the third part analyzes and summarizes the formation of political and social background at that time. At the forth part of the article, it analyzes Scarlett's contradictory characters which vividly reveal the conflicts among three cultures.
