《麦田里的守望者》中霍尔顿的抗争与追求

论文研究了小说《麦田里的守望者》中主人公霍尔顿的抗争与追求，主要从三个方面进行论述，即霍尔顿精神上的痛苦，抗争的表达方式以及霍尔顿对爱的追求。论文首先分析了霍尔顿所生活的虚假世界以及这种世界给他带来的精神上的痛苦，种种精神上的痛苦又使霍尔顿通过自己的方式即粗俗的语言、晦涩的行为和对教育制度不满的态度等表达出了对周围世界的抗争，并进一步说明了霍尔顿内心对爱的渴望和追求。论文指出由于霍尔顿自身性格上的弱点和局限性，以及来自妹妹菲苾的真诚的爱，他最后的妥协也不可避免。文章通过对霍尔顿抗争与追求的系统分析，揭露了二战后美国虚假残酷的社会现实以及人与人之间冷漠虚伪的社会关系。

On Holden’s Rebellion and Pursuit
in The Catcher in the Rye
 

ABSTRACT

This paper gives a study on the protagonist Holden’s rebellion and pursuit in the novel The Catcher in the Rye from three aspects, namely Holden’s mental agony, the expressions of his rebellion and his pursuit of love. It begins with the analysis of the phony world Holden lives in and the mental agony the world brings to him. All kinds of mental agony in turn make Holden rebel against the world around him in his own way such as his vulgarisms, his obscure behaviors and his disaffection towards the educational system and so on. This paper then makes a further analysis of Holden’s longings for love and pursuit of love. It also indicates the inevitableness of Holden’s final compromise because of his own character foible and limitation, as well as the genuine love from his younger sister Phoebe. The paper makes a systematical analysis of Holden’s rebellion and pursuit, profoundly showing the phony and cruel social reality and indifferent social relationship in America after World War II.
