试析《春香夫人》中华裔美国人的新形象及其文化意义

美国华裔文学研究在美国属于相对新兴的领域，在美国，从在大学正式设立为系级学科的课程至今，也不过约30年时间。美国华裔文学研究在我国的起步就更晚。然而，随着我国学界对当代美国文学的关注，尤其是对20世纪70年代以后出现的文学现象的关注，越来越多的学者和学子对美国华裔文学产生了浓厚的兴趣，并开始对此认真研究起来。北美第一位华裔女作家——水仙花（Sui Sin Far）对美国华裔文学的发展做出了巨大的贡献，近年来对水仙花及其作品的研究也层出不穷。
本文通过对短篇小说《春香夫人》中华人新形象的解析以及与美国主流文化中传统华人文学形象的对比分析，揭示了水仙花创立华人新文学形象的文化根源及意义。水仙花认为中美文化是可以兼容的，为解决文化冲突提供了一种新的方法。这一文化兼容意识不仅在当时具有很强的现实意义，在倡导多元文化的今日看来也仍有借鉴意义。

Abstract

The study of Chinese American literature belongs to a relatively new field in America. It has been only about 30 years since Chinese American literature was officially taken as a curriculum in American universities and its study in China started even later. With the development of the study of the contemporary American literature in China, more and more scholars and students have taken keen interests in American Chinese literature and began to study it seriously, especially since the 1970s. As the first Chinese American authoress in North America, Sui Sin Far contributed a lot to the development of Chinese American literature. Therefore, the research on Sui Sin Far and her works has been multiplied in recent years.
This dissertation manages to analyze the new images of the Chinese Americans in Mrs. Spring Fragrance and compare them with the traditional literary images so as to reveal the cultural roots and significance of Sui Sin Far’s creation of the Chinese American new images. Sui Sin Far regarded that the Chinese and American cultures were able to integrate, which offered one new solution of dealing with cultural conflict. Sui’s concept of cultural compatibility proved to be as much significant in her times as in today when the multi-culture has been high-lightened.
