The Symbolic Meanings of the Colors in Harry Potter Series

Abstract: The first book of Harry Potter Series was published in 1997, and then this series of literary works has been translated into more than seventy kinds of languages and made into movies. It attains great reputation all over the world. This paper will enjoy this series from a special angle, color and color terms. Nowadays, many scholars from home and abroad are keen on the researches on colors and color terms. Under normal conditions, colors and color terms are considered as a natural part of novels and movies as the plots of the stories and the amazing performance going. Taking a brief notice, it is easy to find that J.K Rowling had emphasized the distinctions among different characters by using different colors or color terms. The main purport of this paper is to highlight the uses of colors and color terms in the novels and movies in Harry Potter Series. There is no doubt that this kind of use makes them more attractive.
