本文主要论述莎拉•蒂斯代尔多愁善感的性格特点。通过分析其不同时期创作的爱情诗，结合大量例证，定义，演绎等其他分析方法，从比较文学的角度引入具有相似性格的人物形象林黛玉等进行对比分析，从而论述其多愁善感的性格特点。并进一步分内因与外因两方面分析。从爱情无望，体弱多病，喜欢安静沉思，深受艺术熏陶等内因，到来自父母的影响，来自丈夫的影响，来自朋友的印象，以及整个时代背景的影响。最后点明这种多愁善感赋予她对“美”格外敏锐的感受力，她所编制的意象，营造的气氛无事不刻带给我们美的享受，这种精神食粮正是浮躁的现代社会所需要的。

Abstract

Sara Teasdale, an American poet, has an obvious characteristic of sentimentality throughout her composition of love poems of different periods. This paper endeavors to delve into this subject matter by means of definitions; illustrations, exemplifications, comparison, contrast, etc. Step by step, from the inner reasons such as suffering hopeless love, and poor health, keen on contemplation, influence by art, culture, etc, to outer reasons such as influence from parents, husband, friends, including the circumstance and the period. Through the comparison of the image of Sara Teasdale and Lin Daiyu, from A Dream of Red Mansions, who has similar characteristics, this paper provides us a better understanding of how the sentimentality has great effect in influencing Sara Teasdale’s composition, enables her breathes a love of nature and art, creates a world of her own, beautiful, pure, and somewhat classical, in which her spirit lives, and which sustains her very personal gifts.
