Abstract
The thesis aims to analyze the artistic features of Running for Governor with the research of the writing techniques that called irony, humor and other devices used in the novel by the method of searching resources from bibliography, and then neatening the resources, using contrast, definition and other methods. It consists of 3 parts of which part 1 is a brief introduction of Mark Twain and the detailed introduction of Running for Governor; part 2 is divided into 4 subheads, they are irony, humor, interrelation of irony and humor and the other devices used in the novel, the writer uses definition and gives examples from the novel to analyze the writing techniques, which are researched for analyzing the artistic features of the novel; part 3 is a conclusion that show the disquisitive results of this paper that Running for Governor uses various artistic features, discloses the false and frightfulness of the American capitalism election public courageously and pithily, also, it satirizes and makes fun of American so-called “democracy”, “freedom” tartly, giving unmerciful exposure and lecture to the political rascal of the bourgeois. And even today, it is very useful for readers to cognize and animadvert the filthy souls of the capitalism.
