非英语专业学生英语学习动机的研究
英语学习动机与学习者的成绩紧密相关,学习动机对学习起着巨大的促进作用。为了解当前非英语专业学生英语学习动机的类别与现状,分析学习动机强度与英语成绩之间的相关性,本研究随机抽取了80名非英语专业学生进行了一次问卷调查。调查结果表明,非英语专业学生有三种主要学习动机类型:工具型动机,文化型动机和学习情景型动机;学习动机强度与英语成绩之间有显著关系。基于以上结论得出,激发和保持学生的英语学习动机需要教师和学生的共同努力。英语教师可以采取一些强化策略,如在教学过程中充分运用认知策略,采用英语交际教学法,改进教学手段,培养学生的自主学习能力。学生要树立正确的自我观念,确立英语学习的长期目标和短期目标,自主学习,并且采用科学的学习方法。

Study on English Learning Motivation of Non-English Majors
 
Abstract: English learning motivation is closely related with the learner’s study performance, and it promotes the language learning effectively. In order to investigate non-English majors’ learning motivations and analyse the correlation between their motivational intensity and their English achievement, a questionnaire was carried out among 80 randomly selected students. The results of the experiment reveals that the main motivation types of college non-English majors are: instrumental motivation, cultural motivation and learning situational motivation. Learning motivational intensity has a close correlation with learning achievement. In order to initiate and sustain the college students’ English learning motivation, teachers and students need to work together. Teachers should explore useful methods and strategies to enhance students’ motivation, such as, applying cognitive strategies, using communicative method in their teaching, improving teaching methods, cultivating the students’ autonomous learning ability. Students need to be self-conscious and confident, establishing long-term goals and short-term goals, studying conscientiously and adopting scientific studying methods.
