英语专业学生接受式隐喻能力与阅读水平研究
概念隐喻理论从认知的角度考察隐喻,得出隐喻不仅存在于语言中,而且存在于思想和行动中。与之相对应的隐喻能力,是在Chomsky的语言能力和Hymes的交际能力的基础上提出来的。Azuma博士进一步将隐喻能力分为接受式隐喻能力和产出式隐喻能力两部分。在英语阅读中,英语专业学生不可避免地会遇到许多难以理解的隐喻,因此隐喻构成了阅读障碍之一。为引起英语阅读教学对隐喻和隐喻能力的重视,对英语专业学习者接受式隐喻能力与阅读水平的相关性进行研究。
研究采用调查问卷和阅读卷来测试菏泽学院英语专业二年级学生的接受式隐喻能力和阅读水平,进而探讨两者之间的相关性。使用spss16.0软件对测试数据进行分析,结果显示英语专业学习者接受式隐喻能力与阅读水平呈正相关,但他们的接受式隐喻能力处于偏低水平,培养学生的隐喻意识及隐喻能力对促进英语阅读教学有重要意义。

Study of Receptive Metaphoric Competence and Reading Proficiency of English Majors
                          
Abstract: Conceptual metaphor theory studies metaphor from the perspective of cognition, claiming that metaphor is found not only in speech, but also in thought and action. The corresponding notion of metaphoric competence was proposed on the basis of Chomsky’s linguistic competence and Hymes’ communicative competence. Dr. Azuma further proposed the two parts constituting metaphoric competence, namely, receptive metaphoric competence and productive metaphoric competence. Meanwhile, in the process of English reading, English majors may inevitably find many metaphors defying understanding, and thus metaphor becomes one of the obstacles for them. In order to arouse more attention paid to metaphors and metaphoric competence in the process of English reading teaching, the correlation between receptive metaphoric competence and reading proficiency of English majors will be mainly discovered in this thesis.
Questionnaire and test paper are employed to test the receptive metaphoric competence and reading proficiency of sophomores majoring in English in Heze University. Additionally, the software 16.0 is used to analyze the test data. The results show that English majors’ receptive metaphoric competence and reading proficiency correlate with each other significantly, but their present receptive metaphoric competence is at a low level. It is of great importance to cultivate students’ metaphorical awareness and metaphoric competence in English reading teaching.
