跨文化背景下文化定型对英语文化教学的影响


ABSTRACT

Cultural factors in Intercultural communication have great influences on English teaching, and this has attracted many foreign scholars' attention. Among these, cultural stereotype is the one that can never be ignored. Cultural stereotype refers to the fixed impression in which we organize our images into fixed and simple categories that we used to represent the entire collection of people. But due to the limitation of environment, this impression may not be in conformity with the truth, which will bring forth cultural obstacles in intercultural communication. Therefore, the quality of intercultural communication will be easily influenced by such obstacles.
This thesis takes a look into the formation and characteristics of cultural stereotype as well as influences on intercultural communication, and then explores methods of English culture teaching. The paper also puts forward some suggestions on taking advantage of cultural stereotype during the process of English teaching. That is to say, teachers should let students correctly build up and constantly revise the cultural stereotype in the process of the language teaching and learning, bringing its active role to full use, and finally enhance students' intercultural communicative competence.

内 容 摘 要

跨文化交流中的文化因素对英语教学的影响已经引起诸多外语工作者的注意,文化定型也是其中不可忽视的因素之一。文化定型指一个群体的成员对另一个群体的成员持有的固定印象,但由于环境的限制,该印象不一定和真实情况相符,这就容易给跨文化交流造成障碍,从而影响跨文化交流的质量。
本文就文化定型的形成和特点,及其对跨文化交流的影响等方面进行了阐述,并探讨了文化定型的英语教学方法。提出了在英语教学过程中利用文化定型观念的建议,即在英语教学的过程中教师应引导学习者正确建立并不断修正文化定型观念使其发挥积极的作用,从而培养学生的跨文化交际能力。
