Abstract

This paper is based on To Kill a Mockingbird, the autobiographic novel of Harper Lee. It concentrates on an analysis of the symbols in the novel. These symbols and signs includes Maycomb, Mockingbird and such characters, other characters as symbols, snowman and camellias as details, and the implication of “to kill a mockingbird”.
To support the thesis, the paper is divided into four parts. The first part is a brief introduction to Harper Lee. The second part is the general introduction to To Kill a Mockingbird. The third part makes an analysis of the symbols in the novel. The fourth part is the conclusion, restating the thesis of the paper.
