解构主义视角下的《补墙》

本文拟从美国著名诗人罗伯特·弗罗斯特的《补墙》一诗入手，以前人的研究成果作为基础，运用解构主义理论对诗的主题进行更为深入的探讨。解构主义是一种反对传统的二元对立的具有颠覆性的批评理论。它打破前人在我们脑海中印上的固有的思想观念。《补墙》看似是“补”实则是“拆”，诗中“篱笆牢实邻居情久长”的传统观念，不符合现代的要求。诗人弗罗斯特借助诗中的“我”表达对墙不满和对传统的反叛,这种精神与解构主义理念非常吻合。本文主要从诗的词句,诗中所描绘的客观事实以及诗歌主题三方面分析其中的解构主义思想。而后通过对墙的意义的进一步研究,揭示人类对任何自然界或人为墙界所持有的矛盾心态以及这种心态所带来的人与人之间交际缺失和交际困境的问题。最后得出 “墙”对人们现实生活的影响及其“拆墙”的重要性。

Abstract

Based on previous related research fruits, this paper is to apply Deconstruction to make a profound analysis of Mending Wall written by Robert Lee Frost, a well-known American poet. Deconstruction is a subverting criticism theory against traditional binary oppositions. It advocates people’s breaking down the innately conservative beliefs instilled into our mind by our forefathers. The wall in the poem is actually to be demolished, rather than to be mended, because the traditional belief—good fences make good neighbors, has not been able to meet the requirements of modern society. Frost, with the aid of the speaker in the poem, expresses his discontent with the stone wall and his revolt against tradition. This kind of spirit exceedingly accords with the concept of Deconstruction. This study explores Deconstruction ideas in the poem mainly from three aspects: words and phrases, objective facts as well as the theme of the poem. Then through further researches on the meaning of “wall”, the author reveals the contradictory attitude of human beings towards all natural and artificial walls, which bring forth serious problems to interpersonal predicament faced by modern people. Finally, the paper demonstrates the bad influences of the “wall” on people’s real lives and emphasizes the importance of “demolishing walls”.
