论中西文化中颜色词的象征意义
颜色词汇是语言词汇的一部分。语言反映并负载一定的文化，因此颜色词汇也会反映不同的文化特点，此外，不同的文化会赋予颜色词汇不同的文化内涵。
汉语和英语均有悠久的历史，二者都有非常丰富的不同种类的颜色词汇。这些颜色词汇有自己本身的文化内涵，它们分别反映了中西方的历史、传统习俗和社会文化等方面。随着全球化的进程加快，中国和西方国家的跨文化交际也日益频繁，而在跨文化交际的过程中，颜色词汇因具有诸多的含义经常会引起人们的误解。因此，我们不仅要注重这些颜色词汇的本身含义，还要注重其广泛的象征意义，因为其象征意义经常会因受到不同的语言习惯、历史背景和传统习俗等方面的影响而变化。
通过做此项对比研究，本文旨在使人们更多地了解颜色词汇在中国和西方国家的语言、历史、习俗和社会文化中的文化内涵，从而更好地促进中西方人民的文化交流。与此同时，希望本文会对翻译、跨文化交际和英语教学产生一定的积极影响。

ABSTRACT
Color words are one part of language vocabulary. As a language is the reflection and carrier of a particular culture, color words can also reflect different cultural features, on the other hand, different cultures endow color words with different cultural connotations.
Both Chinese and English are the languages with a long history, and they are very abundant in the words of different colors. These color words have their own cultural connotations which respectively reflect Chinese and western history, traditional customs, social cultures and so on. With the rapid progress of globalization, there are more and more intercultural communications between China and western countries. However, in the process of intercultural communications, color words often cause people’s misunderstandings due to the diversities of different meanings. Therefore, we should notice not only the original meanings of these color words, but also their broad symbolic meanings, because their symbolic meanings, which are influenced by different language habits, historical backgrounds, traditional customs and so on, often vary from culture to culture.
By doing this contrastive study, the aim of this paper is to make people know more about the connotations of color words in language, history, customs and social cultures in China and western countries, which promotes the cultural communications better between Chinese and western people. At the same time, it is hoped that the paper may have a certain positive effect on translation, intercultural communication, and English teaching and learning.
