学习动机在语言学习中起着至关重要的作用,决定不同基础的学生在英语学习方面取得不同程度成功的重要原因之一。在外语学习中,无论客观条件多么不利,具有强烈学习动机的学生往往比那些缺乏学习动机的学生取得的成绩好。因此,如何去激发学习动机是英语学习的首要任务之一。《义务教育英语课程标准(2011年版)》特别强调教师应在教学中不断激发并强化学生的学习兴趣,并引导他们逐渐将学习兴趣转化为稳定的学习动机。学习困难的学生(“学困生”)学习兴趣较低,学习成绩较差,整体效果和素质欠佳。其原因包括学校因素和学生自身因素。学校因素包括学校政策及教师因素等;学生自身因素包括动机,习惯等。这些因素都不是孤立的,而是相互交织,相互作用整体影响“学困生”的学习效果。
本文以Deci和Ryan的内在动机和外在动机为理论依据,对朔州市占义初中二年级的110名学困生进行统计调查,采用问卷和访谈(选取其中3人进行深入访谈)来收集数据资料。旨在分析影响初中英语学困生学习动机的主要因素:兴趣、态度、目标、学习环境、教学方法及家庭环境;经过调查发现这些因素对学生的动机影响很大,针对学困生的特殊性,从内在动机和外在动机方面提出一些建议,如激发学生的学习兴趣,给学生营造良好的学习氛围等。加强师生对学习动机的意识,尤其英语教师应从哪些方面激发学困生的英语学习动机,从而帮助他们建立英语学习的信心和能动性。

A Study on Students’ Motivation with English Learning Difficulties in Zhanyi Junior High School in Shuozhou

Abstract: Learning motivation plays an important role in language learning. It is one of the essential reasons for determining the different levels that students can achieve in learning English. When learning a foreign language, no matter how tough conditions are, students who have strong learning motivation often acquire much more than those who lacks of. Therefore, the most important task is how to stimulate learning motivation on English learning. “In light of English curriculum standards of compulsory education” (2011 Edition), it especially emphasizes that teacher should continue to inspire and strengthen students’ interest in the teaching, and guide them to turn the learning interest into stable learning motivation. Students with learning difficulties are often lower in learning interests are low. They have poor academic performance. The reasons involve the school factors as well as the students’ own factors. School factors include school policy and teacher factors; students’ own factors include motivation and habit. These factors are not isolated but interacted to affect the students with learning difficulties.
This paper regards the intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation of Deci and Ryan as the theory basis, using questionnaires and interviews (choosing 3 students at random for in-depth interviews) to investigate 110 second-grade students in junior high school in Zhanyi middle school in Shuozhou. It attempts to discover the influencing factors of the junior high school students’ motivation with learning difficulties: interest, attitude, target, learning environment, and family environment. As a result, it finds out that these factors impact greatly on students’ motivation, especially, for students with learning difficulties. And then it puts forward some suggestions on the intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation, such as stimulating students’ interest on learning, creating a good learning atmosphere for students. Therefore, it’s important to strengthen teachers’ and students’ awareness of learning motivation, especially how English teachers should stimulate students’ English learning motivation, in order to help them build up confidence and initiative in learning English.
