“南方淑女”的觉醒——从女性主义角度看《献给艾米丽的玫瑰》和《飘》

威廉·福克纳的《献给艾米丽的玫瑰》与玛格丽特·米切尔的长篇小说《飘》中的女主人公艾米丽和斯嘉丽，是美国南方淑女的典型代表。她们的命运在南北战争时期面临巨大挑战，然而她们却向命运大胆反抗，突破传统对她们的束缚，追求自由幸福的生活。她们先后从淑女转变到老师，从贵族转变到商业老板，实现了其女性价值。在婚姻上，从压抑到大胆追求，从无爱到有爱转变，相继实现了婚姻观的觉醒。她们从眼泪中解放出来，在逆境中不屈不挠地觉醒，最终实现了自我。

Abstract

As the heroines of William Faulkner’s A Rose for Emily and Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind, Emily and Scarlett are typical representatives of American southern belles. Their fate confronted a huge challenge during the civil war. However they resisted boldly and broke through the bondage of tradition to pursue a free and happy life. Both of them have changed themselves bravely: one changed herself from a lady to a teacher, the other from a noble to a business owner, and they all realized their value as a female successfully. In marriage, they shifted themselves successively from former oppression to brave pursuit, from loveless marriage to marriage with love, with the marriage concept awakening. They liberated themselves from tears, awakening tirelessly during the adversity, and achieved self-realization eventually.
