功能对等指导下《四签名》的两个译本的比较研究

福尔摩斯侦探小说是从十九世纪末就开始被翻译成各种版本引入到中国，深受中国读者的青睐。尽管它的翻译史很长，但与翻译理论结合并具体详细分析其译文的却很少。《四签名》是《福尔摩斯侦探案》其中的一部中篇小说，被很多学者翻译过，其中李献民和贾文浩的版本在福尔摩斯迷中接受度较高。
基于以上事实，本文运用了奈达的功能对等理论，采用对比分析的方法从词从词义、风格和文化三个方面，研究《四签名》的两个译本。通过举例分析和对比得出，贾文浩的版本朴实无华，简单易懂；李献民注重措辞，用语地道自然，增加了文本语言魅力。尽管两个中文版的《四签名》在某些例子都实现了功能对等，但还是需要完善。

A Comparative Study of Two Chinese Renditions of The Sign of Four under the Guidance of Functional Equivalence

Abstract

From the end of the nineteenth Century, Holmes Detective novel was introduced into China and received a great popularity with the varied translated versions. Although the translation history is long, the thorough analysis of its translated text combined with translation theory is relatively few. The Sign of Four, as a novella in The Complete Sherlock Holmes, has been translated by many scholars. Among those versions Li Xianmin’s and Jia Wenhao’s renditions are more accepted by Holmes’s fans.
Based on these facts, this paper applies Nida’s functional equivalence theory, using the method of comparative analysis to evaluate two versions of The Sign of Four from the perspectives of meaning, style and culture. By exemplification and contrast, Jia Wenhao’s version is plain and easy to appreciate while Li Xianmin pays attention to the diction and adds charms to Chinese by using natural and native Chinese language. Though two Chinese versions of The Sign of Four have achieved functional equivalence under some cases, some improvements are still necessary.
