【内容摘要】

J.M.库切《等待野蛮人》老行政官的心路历程分析

《等待野蛮人》为南非作家J.M.库切发表于1980年的作品,是一部政治恐怖小说,这本书在2003年获得诺贝尔文学奖。
本文分析了《等待野蛮人》中主人公老行政官的心路历程,交代了老行政官内心情感变化的三个阶段,以及在他情感变化中所经历面临的困境;在本文的最后一部分交代了本文主人公老行政官情感变化对主题的体现。
本文由导论、正文和结论三部分组成。主要内容如下:
第一部分是导论。导论部分主要介绍了《等待野蛮人》的作家库切的身份背景;以及对《等待野蛮人》的主要内容做了简短介绍;最后对主人公老行政官的身份进行了详细解释。
第二部分是正文,由三部分组成:
第一章讲述了老行政官的心路历程的三个阶段,从最初的迷茫期,到逐渐醒悟,开始了与内心的挣扎,最后转变成彻底的明悟,踏上了寻找出路的光明之路。
第二章讲述了老行政官在内心情感变化过程中所遭遇的三个阻碍,包括帝国文明与野蛮部落的错位,和老行政官面对帝国酷刑所经历的情感困境,以及他面对蛮族姑娘的情感困境。
第三章讲述了老行政官心路历程的三个阶段对《等待野蛮人》主题的作用。老行政官的迷茫期表明了老行政官对帝国文明的认同,挣扎期代表着老行政官对帝国文明的默默反抗,而最后的寻找出路阶段表明了老行政官直接站在了帝国文明的对立面。
最后一部分是结论,这部分主要对前面对论述进行总结,并点出本文的主旨。什么是文明,强者即文明的逻辑是否应该改一改了,差异的存在不应是战争流血的根本理由,人类的文明不应以消除差异为代价,也许这才是库切让我们认真反省的问题。

Abstract
Waiting for the Barbarians is a work of South African writer J.M. Coetzee, first published in 1980. It is a political horror fiction. This book won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2003.
This paper analyzes the mentality of the protagonists and old administrators in Waiting for the Barbarians, interprets the three stages of the emotional changes of the old executives, and the dilemmas experienced in his emotional changes. This article is presented in the last part of this article. The expression of the theme of emotional change by the protagonist and the old administrator.
This paper analyzes the psychological journey of the old magistrate in Waiting for the Barbarians, including the three different stages of the emotional changes of the old magistrate, the dilemmas experienced in his emotional changes, as well as the thematic features embodied in the old magistrate’s emotional changes.
This paper consists of three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. Its main contents are as follows:
The first part is the introduction. It mainly introduces the background of the identity of the writer J.M. Coetzee of Waiting for the Barbarians, and gives a brief introduction to the main contents of the Waiting for the Barbarians. At last, it gives a detailed explanation of the identity of its protagonist -the old magistrate.
The second part is the text and it consists of three parts:
The first chapter describes the three phases of the old magistrate's psychological journey. From the initial confusion period to the gradual realization, he begins to struggle with his inner heart, and finally turns into a thorough understanding and embarks on a bright road to finding a way out.
The second chapter describes the three obstacles encountered by the old magistrate in the process of his inner emotional change, including the dislocation of the Empire civilization and the emotional dilemma when facing the imperial torture and the emotional dilemma when facing the barbarian girl.
The third chapter describes the effects of the three stages of the old magistrate's psychological journey in Waiting for the Barbarians. The confused period of the old magistrate shows his approval of the imperial civilization; the struggling period represents the his silent resistance to the imperial civilization, and the final searching for a way out shows that the old magistrate stands directly on the opposite side of the imperial civilization.
The last part is the conclusion. This part mainly summarizes the previous discussion and points out the main purpose of this article. What is civilization? Does the logic that the strong represent the civilization should be changed? The existence of differences should not be the fundamental reason for the war. Human civilization should not be at the cost of eliminating differences. Perhaps this is the question that Coetzee makes us seriously reflect on.
