功能对等理论视角下的美国情景喜剧字幕翻译--以《破产姐妹》为例

In recent years, many European and American movies and TV dramas are popular in the domestic theaters, the proportion of them are even higher than indigenous films. However, before Chinese people enjoy the cultural feast, they must over the language barrier. Between Chinese and English, the differences of the two languages like a huge gulf, many Chinese people neither understand English speaking nor read English subtitle. Therefore, good subtitle translation is particularly important. But, we must admit that the study of English movies and TV works subtitle translation are not very mature in both theoretical level and the practical level. Taking the American sitcom subtitle translation for an example, many Chinese people watch the American sitcom translated by subtitles group through the Internet, subtitle groups are mainly composed of movie goers, maybe they have no systematic training nor they don’t learn English well as they know no purpose of translation and the special of knowledge. Some translation neither convey the source language meaning nor achieve the effect of humor, thus perfecting the film subtitle translation theory is essential.
In this thesis, the author makes efforts to analyze the features and basic principles of the American sitcom subtitle translation, and summarize many practical skills and strategies by evaluating some typical examples for the American sitcom subtitle translation.
