商务谈判中的英语礼貌语言研究A Study on English Polite Speech in Business Negotiation


礼貌语言,作为一种重要的语言现象,由于能体现说话人对别人的礼貌而被广泛应用在人们的交流中。随着经济全球化的快速发展,国际商务谈判变得越来越频繁。在国际商务谈判中,谈判者合适的态度以及用词用句能给听者留下一个具有良好文化素养以及职业道德的印象。词语和句子的正确使用跟礼貌语言密不可分。礼貌语言以及礼貌策略的正确使用能很大程度上影响谈判的结果。本文发现英语礼貌语言主要是通过词法以及句法形式来实现的,因此本文将基于Leech的礼貌原则以及Brown和Levinson的面子理论,从词法、句法层面上全面地介绍英语礼貌语言。礼貌语言可以保全谈判者的面子,维持谈判双方的友好合作关系,建立和谐的谈判氛围,保护谈判者的利益。通过对商务谈判中礼貌语言功能作用的分析,本文旨在使中国的谈判者对英语礼貌语言有更深的了解,以便在国际商务谈判中取得更大的经济利益或者得到更好的谈判结果。

Abstract
Polite speech, as an important language phenomenon, is widely used in people’s communication since it can show courtesy to others. With the impact of the economic globalization, international business negotiation became more and more frequent. In international business negotiation, negotiators’ appropriate attitude and using words or sentences can make an impression of having good cultural quality and professional ethics to others. The appropriate use of words or sentences is involved with polite speech. And the application of polite speech and politeness strategies can influence the result of a negotiation. This thesis discovers English polite speech mainly realized by lexical and syntactical forms, so the thesis analyzes English polite speech at lexical level, syntactical level roundly based on Leech’s politeness principle and Brown and Levinson’s face strategy. Polite speech can save negotiators’ face, maintain harmonious cooperative relationship between negotiators, build concordant atmosphere of the negotiation and protect negotiators’ benefit. By analyzing the functions of polite speech in business negotiation, this thesis aims to let Chinese negotiators know more knowledge about English polite speech and then get more benefit or get better result in international business negotiation.
