从象征主义看《蝇王》里的人性恶

战争给人类带来的是满目疮痍的世界，战争的罪恶使得西方文明和道德走进了死胡同，论文对威廉·戈尔丁的小说《蝇王》进行了探讨，以便更好的了解作者认为战争根源于人性本恶这一观点。小说中在没有外在约束力，如伦理，道德，法律，宗教等控制的情况下，人性本恶得到彰显，文明与野蛮之间激起了猛烈的冲突，这些冲突相互交错，并通过多个象征意义表现出来。论文将运用象征主义理论，将《蝇王》里大量出现的具有象征意义的人、物、情节进行分类，并分别探讨其象征意义以及这些象征意义对主题思想的发展所起的作用，在重重交错的冲突与对抗中，逐步了解人性本恶这一主题，从而更好地从整体上把握整部小说的寓意，给人类敲响警钟，并引发人们对人类自身种种恶行的深思。

On the Evil Humanity in Lord of the Flies from Symbolism

Abstract

What wars have brought to humans was a badly damaged world and the evil of wars has driven the western civilization and morality into a blind alley. The thesis focuses on Lord of the Flies of William Golding so that the readers may have a better understanding of the author’s opinion that the origin of wars was the evil of humanity. In the novel, without the external control such as ethic, morality, law and religion, the evil of humanity has been fully revealed and some intensive conflicts were aroused between civilization and savagery. These conflicts intermingled with each other and expressed themselves through the symbolic meanings in the novel. The thesis adopts the theory of symbolism and classifies the things with symbolic meanings into characters, objects and plots. It explores respectively these symbolic meanings and their functions of pushing forward the development of the theme. Among the overlapping conflicts and confrontations, the reader may understand the theme that humanity is evil and then have an overall understanding about the implied meaning of the story and what’s more make self-introspections about the bad behaviors of human beings.
