礼貌策略在竞争类商务英语信函中的语用研究

A Pragmatic Study of Politeness Strategy inCompetitive Business English LettersAbstract: Based on Leech’s categorizing model of illocutionary speech acts, international business letters are classified into collaborative, convivial, competitive and conflictive letters. The current thesis studies Lakoff’s three politeness rules, Brown and Levinson’s Face Theory, Leech’s Politeness Principles, and Empathy Theory. Under the lead of these theories, the thesis comes up with some strategies, and applies these strategies in competitive letters. The thesis chooses three kinds of competitive letter , namely sales letters, request letters, collection letters, and tries to apply politeness strategies on word and expression level, sentence level, and discourse level. The purpose is to find out the routes from pragmatic perspective to employ these politeness strategies in competitive business English letters, and guide business people to better employ politeness strategies in writing sales letters, request letters and collection letters.Key words: competitive business English letters; pragmatic perspective; politeness strategies
礼貌策略在竞争类商务英语信函中的语用研究
摘要:根据利奇对以言行事言语行为模式的分类,国际商务信函可以分成合作类信函,和谐类信函,竞争类信函和冲突类信函。本篇论文研究莱可夫的三条面子观,布朗和列文森的面子理论,利奇的礼貌观,还有移情理论。并且在这些理论的指导下,本论文总结出了一些策略,并且把它们运用于竞争类商务信函中。本论文选择竞争类商务英语信函中三种信函做代表,它们分别是:推销信,请求信,催款信。并且要从词与表达层次,句的层次,以及全篇信的篇幅书写三个层次来运用这些策略。目的在于从语用学角度找出在竞争类商务英语信函中运用这些礼貌策略的方法,指导商务人士在写推销信,请求信,以及催款信时能来更好的运用礼貌策略。
