法律英语翻译过程中译者的角色

翻译活动中，译者对原作者所认识的事物进行再认识和再表达，译者在其中发挥重要作用并担当着独特的角色。本文结合法律翻译活动的特点，从翻译过程模式和译者的必备条件出发，对翻译过程中的译者角色进行分析，认为法律文本翻译者具有多重角色：一是以读者的角色研读原作；二是以作者的角色再现原文；三是以创造者的角色传达原作；四是以研究者的角色理解原作。译者对法律翻译活动内在要求的认识程度，以及如何扮演自己的角色，将决定译作的质量。

Translator’s Role in English Legal Text Translation Process

ABSTRACT

In the translation activity, the translator recognizes and re-expresses the things that the original author knows. The translator plays a decisive part and has a unique role. Taking into consideration the characteristics of legal translation, this paper discusses about the multiple roles of the translator in the process of legal translation based on the models of translation process and translator’s requisites. It holds that a legal translator plays the following four roles in the process of legal translation, namely, conducting a careful study of the original as a reader; representing the original as a writer; expressing the original as a creator; and fully understanding the original as a researcher. In conclusion, to what extent the translator realizes the inherent requirement of legal translation and how a translator act his/her role will largely effect the quality of his/her work.
