Abstract

Film is a very important cultural interchange way. Film belongs to art and entertainment, most people in the world like to see a film in their spare time, thus film becomes a major pastime activity. During the development of film, people enjoy more and more very good domestic made films. However, with the development of the society and the communication among countries is getting more frequent, people would like to enjoy the foreign countries made films. In the recent several decades, plenty foreign films are introduced into China. Before the films are put on in the cinema, they have to be translated into Chinese so that the indigenous audiences can understand easily. As more and more foreign countries’ films are introduced into our country, how to translate the film titles is of great significance. The film title translation has distinctive features, and plays a main role in introducing and impressing the Western movie culture. This essay tries to analyze some aspects about the Chinese translation of English film titles and aims to summaries some translating techniques.
