浅析杰克•伦敦的荒原情结

杰克•伦敦（1876-1916）是十九世纪末二十世纪初美国伟大的小说家之一，人们所熟知的是他在小说中对动物的细致生动的刻画，较少注意到他对荒野的精彩描述，及其作品中闪烁的对人与荒野关系的思考与感悟。事实上，他的作品体现了对荒野的独到的理解。为了探讨促使杰克•伦敦形成荒野意象的原因，本文首先就作家所处的社会历史背景和自然主义对他所产生的影响进行了研究，还追溯了杰克•伦敦的早期生活。以此为背景，论文分析了杰克•伦敦的荒野意象及其在作品中的反应，以及荒野意象对杰克•伦敦的生命和哲学观的影响。

An Analysis of Jack London’s Wilderness  Complex
 

ABSTRACT

Jack London(1876-1916) is one of the greatest American novelists in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He is well known as the writer who brought vivid description of animals into the American literature. People pay little attention to his magnificant description of the wilderness, and his contribution to literature’s idea of what the relationship between man and wilderness should be. This thesis examines both Jack London’s life experience and some social influences over him, including naturalism, historical cultural background and social historical situation to discover reasons for the formation of Jack London’s image of wilderness. Based on these, this thesis mainly focuses on the interpretation of Jack London’s image of wilderness and its reflection in his works. What’s more, the thesis points out the significance of Jack London’s wilderness complex in educating the public.
