On How to Improve the Ability of Fast-reading
Abstract: The paper aims to explore how to improve the ability of fast-reading. Reading is a basic ability in learning English. Through investigations, the writer finds that there are some obstacles hindering readers from improving their ability of fast-reading. First, the paper discusses two reasons for influencing fast-reading abilities: one is that the text characteristics like sentence length, ideas and concepts. Second the reader characteristics also influence the reading speed like vocabulary level, comprehension ability, background knowledge and interest in the material. Then, according to these factors, it gives solutions to getting rid of obstacles in fast-reading, such as using context clues to guess the meaning of words, skimming and scanning and finding out topic, topic sentence and main idea. Finally, it put forward some other effective ways like thinking key words for fast reading and having many good habits.

摘要：本文旨在如何提高快速阅读能力。阅读是学习英语的一种基本能力。通过调查，笔者发现学生在阅读过程中存在一些阻碍读者提高快速阅读能力的障碍。针对这一问题，本文首先谈论提高快速阅读能力的两个原因：一方面，文章的特点比如课文的长度，词汇，观点和概念都会影响着阅读速度；另一方面，读者的自身的愿意比如读者自身的词汇水平，理解能力，背景知识和对阅读材料的兴趣。笔者分析了这些原因后总结出了一些可以提高阅读速度的方法，比如，利用文中的线索猜测单词的意思，略读和精读的方法，找出主题、主题句和文章的主要想法。最后文章还提到了另一些有效的方法比如思考文中关键字，养成良好的阅读习惯
